John J. Triner, Sr.

Age 91 of Coal City, passed away Sunday April 12, 2009 at his home.

Born January 14, 1918 in Chicago, John was a son of the late John and Mary Zajic-Triner. He was raised and educated in Coal City and was a graduate of Coal City High School with the graduating class of 1936. On June 01, 1940 John married Lorraine Bauer in the Coal City Methodist Church, and together they resided their entire married life in Coal City. Lorraine preceded John in death on September 01, 1991. John was employed with A.P. Green from where he retired as a supervisor in 1980 after 43 years of service. John was a member of Assumption Catholic Church in Coal City, member and past president of the Coal City School Board, charter member of the Coal City Area Club and was formerly involved with the Knights of Columbus, Braidwood Council. John was a hard working man, who loved the outdoors and fishing. He and Lorraine enjoyed traveling after his retirement and John known for being Mr. Fix-It and helping the neighborhood kids. He was a family man who was proud to be a father for 66 years. John truly enjoyed all the time spent with his family.

Survivors include his four children: Merikay (Mark) Togliatti of Goose Lake, Patti (Bill) Wills and John J. Jr. (Dorinda) Triner, both of Coal City and Jim (Terry) Triner of Shorewood; ten grandchildren: Matt (Karen) Togliatti and Al (Kathy) Togliatti, both of Bolingbrook, Missy (Joe) Shank of Coal City, Billy (Stacey) Wills of Braceville, Kerrin Wills of Carbon Hill, Jennifer Triner of Coal City, John Triner, III of Portland, Oregon, Brian (Kelsey) Finn of Las Vegas, Nevada, Mike (Jeanna) Finn of Morris and Emily Triner of Coal City; ten great grandchildren: Kaitlin, Alyssa, Nicholas, Carolyn, Ryan, Tyler, Jacy, Maisy, Abram and Alexx and numerous special nieces and nephews.

John was preceded in death by his parents; wife Lorraine; one brother Clarence Triner and two sisters: Emma Frohriep and Mildred Andersen.

Visitation and Video Tribute will be held on Thursday April 16, 2009 between the hours of 4:00PM and 8:00PM at Reeves Funeral Home, 75 North Broadway (one block North of Illinois Route 113) in Coal City.

Funeral services will follow on Friday April 17th at 10:00AM in Assumption Catholic Church, 245 South Kankakee Street in Coal City, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated with Reverend Ron Hart officiating.

Burial will be in Braceville-Gardner Cemetery and John's Grandchildren will act as pallbearers and honorary pallbearers.

Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in John's memory to Grundy Community Volunteer Hospice, 1802 North Division Street, Suite 222, Morris, Illinois 60450.
