John Maxon Taylor

Age 90 of Holland, Michigan, passed away Wednesday, September 12, 2007 at the Hospice House in Holland.

Born October 14, 1916 in Harvard, Illinois, John was a son of the late Alfred and Bernice (Wilkinson) Taylor. He was a graduate of Morris Community High School with the Class of 1934 and formerly married to Ethel M. Johnson who preceded him in death in January of 1961. John retired from International Harvester in 1978 after 36 years of service, and was a resident of Canton, Illinois for many years. He was a veteran of the US Navy and served overseas in the Pacific Theater of Operations during World War II.

Survivors include his wife Daunie Taylor of Holland; stepsons: E. Kent (Nancy) Ayers of Joliet and Douglas, Michigan and Mark H. (Deborah) Ayers of Alexandria, Virginia. Two grandsons: Jon (Molly) Ayers and Justin (Tracy) Ayers both of Fennville, Michigan; two granddaughters: Aimee (Bill) Mansfield of Springfield, Illinois and Tami (Bill) Lamprecht of East Peoria, Illinois. Ten great grandchildren and two sisters: Darlene Snider of Highlands, North Carolina and Roberta Henderson-Korn of Holiday, Florida.

John was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Ethel M. Johnson - Taylor and his brother Leroy E. Taylor.

Private family graveside services were held in Stavanger Cemetery on Saturday September 15, 2007 and local funeral services and arrangements were under the direction of Reeves Funeral Homes, Ltd. in Morris.
