John P. Marshall

Age 81 of Wilmington, Illinois and formerly of Chicago, died unexpectedly on Friday, January 17, 2025 at Ascension St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet, Illinois

Born May 18, 1943, in Chicago, John Patrick was a son to John and Sophie (Strzemp) Marshall. He was raised and educated in Chicago and went on to honorably serve in the United States Army. John worked as a surveyor with Local 130 until retirement. He enjoyed photography, music, and collecting coins, rocks, gemstones, and fossils.

A devoted grandfather, John cherished time with his grandkids and will be remembered for his humor, simple nature, and love of life’s small joys.

Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, John C. and Andrea Marshall of Ocala, Florida; four grandchildren: Alexander “A.J.”, Juliana, Blake and Joshua and his half-sister, Debbie Ivankowski of Tinley Park, Illinois.

John was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Ronald.

Cremation rites have been accorded, and he will be laid to rest in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood with military honors at a later date.
