John R. Lerfald, Jr.

Age 54 of Diamond, passed away Saturday evening October 12, 2013 at Morris Hospital.

Born June 6, 1959 in Joliet, John is a son of Dorothy C. Lerfald of Braidwood and the late John Robert Lerfald, Sr. He was raised and educated in Braidwood and on June 6, 1977, John married Marilynn J. Luce in Grace Lutheran Church in Wilmington. John was a great John Wayne enthusiast and enjoyed fishing, listening to music and watching the stars. He will be remembered for his great enjoyment of spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife of 36 years Marilynn; children: Angela (Dan) Bailey of Braidwood and Tammy (John) Fiedler and Janet Lerfald (the late Tony Jurzack), both of Coal City; seven grandchildren: Tyler, Brenden, Bryann, Salena, Joseph, Austin and Leanna; his mother Dorothy Lerfald of Braidwood; brother Jack (Laura) Lerfald of Boca Raton, Florida; sister Janet (Denson) Jones of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; one aunt Bertha Marcil; two uncles: Harold and Lawrence Lerfald and numerous nieces and nephews.

John was preceded in death by his father; daughter Melisa Ann Lerfald; brother Robert Lerfald; niece Hope Lerfald and uncle Karl Boehm.

Visitation will be held on Saturday October 19, 2013 from 1:00PM until time of Life Celebration 4:00PM at Reeves Funeral Home, 75 North Broadway (one block north of Illinois Route 113) in Coal City. Cremation rites will be accorded following the services.

Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in John's memory to his family for their distribution.
