John R. Fleming
Age 61 of Diamond and formerly Joliet, passed away Thursday July 17, 2008 at his home.
Born October 29, 1946 in Joliet, John was a son of the late John Lloyd and Dorothy Alstott-Fleming-Mercer. He was raised and educated in the Joliet area and was a member of the Carpenters Union Local 174. John was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, who loved animals and truly enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson Motorcycle.
Survivors include his wife Melody (nee Miner); one daughter Candace (Jody Ritz) Jacobson and three grandchildren: Joshua and Rosalinda Martinez and Breanna Konczal, all of Diamond. One brother Howard (Judy) Fleming, one aunt Lois Shelton; nieces and nephews: Jimmy, Danny and Verna Fleming and Ryan, Daniel, Sarah and Jessica Miner; his mother and father-in-law: Lester and Marie Miner; brothers-in-law: Lester, Jr. (Cathy) Miner and Dwayne (Rachel Blackmon) Miner and dear friends Beverly and Ken Godfrey and family.
John was preceded in death by his parents and step father James Mercer
Visitation will be held on Sunday July 20, 2008 between the hours of 2:00PM and 6:00PM at Reeves Funeral Home, 75 North Broadway (one block North of Illinois Route 113) in Coal City. Funeral Services will follow on Monday July 21st at 1:00PM in the funeral home.
Interment with full military honors will be in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood.
Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in John's memory to his family for distribution to local charities of their choosing.
