Age 51 of Wilmington, passed away Friday evening April 9, 2010 at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home, after a brief illness.

Born March 5, 1959 in Morris, John was a son of Shirley (nee Jones) and the late Earl Chandler. He graduated from Wilmington High School in 1977. John was always a great fan and benefactor of all Wilmington Sports. He was employed by Local 1693 Millwright Union of Chicago and formally owned and operated Chandler's Auto Repair from 1995-2007 with his father. John was an avid Cubs fan and was very supportive in all Wilmington sports events or charity. He was also a member of the ESDA. John greatly loved his family and friends.

Survived by his loving mother: Shirley; two sons: Matt and Chris both of Wilmington; three grandchildren: Easton, Karlie and Markie; two sisters: Beverly (Don) Beasley and Shelly (Travis) Parsley all of Wilmington; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins; his former wife: Kathy Horwath of Mokena and special friends: Randy Burnes and Dean Shepherd.

John was preceded by his father Earl and infant daughter: Mandi.

Visitation will be Tuesday April 13th from 2-8PM and Wednesday April 14th from 9AM until time of service at 10AM at Reeves Funeral Home, 219 North Joliet Street in Wilmington. Pastor Ronald Taylor of the Island City Baptist Church will officiate and burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Sunset Addition.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in John's name to the Wilmington High School Foundation of Excellence Scholarship or the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home.
