John Burke

John Kevin Burke, 49 of Pontiac died at 3:45 pm, Saturday, July 23, 2011 in the Emergency Room of OSF Saint James-John W. Albrecht Medical Center in Pontiac.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Pontiac, on Thursday, July 28, 2011 at 12 noon with Msgr. Thomas Mack as principal celebrant.

The Rosary will be recited at 11:45 am in the church.

Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Pontiac.

A time for community gathering with the opportunity to visit with the family prior to the service will be held in St. Mary's Church at the corner of Howard St. and Main St. from 10:00 am until 11:30 am on Thursday morning.

Friends may also visit with the family at St. Mary's Parish Hall following the cemetery service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to his family.

Kevin was born September 15, 1961 to the late John R. and Mary Helen (Bradley) Burke. He married Laurie Ann Holub on February 13, 1988. She survives at Pontiac.

Also surviving are 2 daughters: Megan Burke, Chicago and MaryKate Burke, Pontiac; 2 sons: Kyle Burke and Liam Burke both of Pontiac; his mother of Pontiac; 2 brothers: Michael P. Burke, Pontiac and James B. Burke, Chicago; 1 sister: Kathleen M. Burke, Chicago; 1 niece: Joanna C. (Steve) Fief, Hopewell, VA; 1 uncle: Phillip N. (Martha) Bradley and 1 Aunt: Mildred Bradley both of Pontiac; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Harvey and Gerry Holub, Mendota, IL.

Kevin was preceded in death by his father on May 21, 1999; 1 uncle: William N. Bradley and his maternal and paternal grandparents.

John Kevin worked at Burke Service in Pontiac with his father for many years and operated the business after his father's death.

He was a 1980 graduate of Pontiac Twp. High School and attended Lewis University at Romeoville. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus Council #854 of Pontiac.
