Joe Gentry

Age 67 of Braidwood, passed away peacefully Saturday Morning, December 3, 2016 at Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee.

Born April 24, 1949 in Chicago, Joseph Robert was the son of the late Richard and Doris (Horton) Gentry.  Growing up in Chicago he would meet and marry the love of his life Sylvania Campbell on May 25, 1968.  Joe worked as a laborer for the Laborer's Local #96 up until he retired in 2004.  In his free time, Joe enjoyed fishing, muscle cars, relaxing in front of the T.V., working in his garage and being outside in the yard.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years Sylvania; three children: Bobby Joe (Robyn) Gentry of Kendallville, Indiana, Shelby (Curt) Mueller of Joliet and Richard T. (Christine) Gentry of Gardner; (11) grandchildren: Tanya, Stormie, Rich, Krystal, Cody, Conner, Brittany, Taylor, Anna, Brittany and Ashley, and three great-grandchildren: Logan, Layla and Miley.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents and sister: Sandra Gentry.

Cremation rites have been accorded.

A memorial visitation and video tribute will be held on Wednesday, December 7, 2016 between the hours of 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. at Reeves Funeral Home, 75 North Broadway (one block north of Illinois Route 113) in Coal City.
