Joan Louise Wakeman

Age 73 of Lenzburg, Illinois, passed away Tuesday April 17, 2007 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Belleville.

Born June 14, 1933, Joan was the eldest daughter of the late Charles W. and Vivian (Brown) Moore of Odell, Illinois. She married Cecil L. Phelps of Peoria in 1954 and Louis W. Wakeman of Coal City on August 5, 1975. Joan was a member of St. Peters UCC in Lenzburg.

Survivors include her husband Louis W. Wakeman of Lenzburg; one sister Julia (William) Matile of Joliet; two brothers: Charles E. (Carol) Moore of Kankakee and Thomas R. (Rebecca) Moore Sr. of Pekin; daughters: Rosemary (Gary) Burmaster of Coal City, Mary (Jeff) Jones of Wilmington, Tine (Dan) Spinnie of Coulterville, Illinois; son Louis F. Wakeman of Lenzburg; grandchildren: Sandra Brainard of Braceville, Daniel (Beth) Babcock of Coal City, Megan (James) Krull of Gardner, William (Melony) Burmaster of Morris, Lance R. Spinnie of Coulterville and Laura J. Burmaster of Coal City; great grandchildren: Samantha Jo Hauge of Braceville, Danielle Paige Babcock of Coal City, Angela Frances Burmaster of Morris, Gabrielle LeeAnn Babcock of Coal City and many nieces and nephews.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents.

The family will receive friends on Saturday April 21, 2007 from 5:00PM until time of services 8:00PM at Heil-Schuessler Funeral Home in Marissa, Illinois.

Interment will follow on Monday April 23, 2007 at 2:00PM in Braceville-Gardner Cemetery.

Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Joan's memory to the American Cancer Society.
