Joan E. Reano
Age 86 of Coal City, formerly Mazon, passed away Wednesday July 5, 2017 at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home.
Born April 2, 1931 in Joliet, Joan Evon was a daughter of Leonard “Bill” and Sadie (nee Bell) Weston. She was raised in Mazon, where from an early age she helped her parents at their Feedbag Restaurant and the local Texaco gas station. While working at the gas station, Joan learned to drive “the wrecker" which was the vehicle she drove to get her driver’s license. She went on to graduate from Mazon High School, and on December 14, 1950, Joan married Francis Martin Reano in her parent’s living room in Mazon. Together, she and Francis moved to Coal City where they built a home and raised their family. Joan was a devoted homemaker, who had a knack for raising orchids in her greenhouse, and was also an accomplished seamstress. She and her husband were best friends, and they enjoyed traveling in their RV and woodworking together. Family was everything to her, and Joan cherished her time spent with her daughter, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include her daughter: Rhonda Reano of Coal City; two grandchildren: Christopher (Nancy) Roudis of Carol Stream and Lorrie Toler of Morris; four great grandchildren: Olivia, Owen, Elijah and Leah Toler; one sister-in-law: Eleanor Roman of Los Angeles, CA, and several nieces and one nephew.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Francis “F.M.” Reano; and her sister: Virginia Strange.
