Jim Tilley
Age 60 of Braceville passed away Wednesday July 8, 2015 at his home.
Born March 7, 1955 in Terre Haute, Indiana, son of the late Robert R. and Lillian Patton-Tilley. He graduated from Joliet Central High School with the Class of 1973, and on April 30, 1983 Jim married Debbie Homerding of Lockport. He was the owner and operator of Tilley’s Service Center, and worked as a carpenter with Local Union 916. Jim was an avid fan of NASCAR and country music, enjoyed playing pool, as well as fishing. He will be remembered for being a great husband, father, grandfather and friend.
Survivors include his wife: Debbie; three children: Jimmy Lee Tilley, Jr. of Illinois, Shellie Tilley-Norris and Patrick Ryan Tilley, both of Alabama; fourteen grandchildren: Darian (Kayla) Tilley, Kaley Tilley, Jordyn Tilley, Noah Tilley, Cameran Tilley, Olivia Tilley, Makenzi (Matthew) Burrell, Shaw Sanford, Raelen Norris, Kelsie Tilley, Erin Tilley, Mason Tilley, Gauge Tilley and Jimmah Tilley; two great grandchildren: Marley and Sadie Mae Burrell; five siblings: Vonna Nelson of Joliet, Donna (Dave) Worrall of Canada, Marilyn Spears of Michigan, Jackie (George) Harvey of Iowa and John (Sherrie) Guthrie of Indiana; mother-in-law: Pauline Homerding of Lockport; eight brothers and sisters-in-law: Alan (Robin) Homerding of Gardner, Cathy Kenney of Lockport, Eileen (Joe) Rossi of Homer Glen, Tom (Darlene) Homerding of Lockport, Roger (Sharon) Homerding of Wilmington, Erik (Suzy) Homerding of Lockport, Karla (Al) Turska of Lockport and Cheri Tilley of Braidwood, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; one brother: Robert Ray Tilley, Jr.; father-in-law: Donald Homerding; brother-in-law: Brian Homerding; and nephew: Matthew Homerding.
Visitation and Video Tribute will be held on Monday July 13, 2015 between the hours of 2:00 pm and 7:00 pm at Reeves Funeral Home, 75 North Broadway (one block north of Illinois Route 113), in Coal City. Cremation rites will be accorded and a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday July 14, 2015, 11:00 AM, at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church, 245 South Kankakee Street, in Coal City. Reverend Robert Noesen will officiate and burial will be in Braceville-Gardner Cemetery.
Preferred memorials may be made in Jim’s memory as gifts to the family for distribution to charities of their choosing.
