Age 74 of Wilmington, Illinois, died Tuesday, September 3, 2024 at the Lightways Hospice Home in Joliet, Illinois.

Born February 24, 1950 in McLeansboro, Illinois, Jerry Lee was a son of Emory and Lorene (Kelley) Weldin. He was raised in Southern Illinois, where he attended a one room schoolhouse until his family relocated to the Joliet area. Jerry graduated from Lincolnway High School with the Class of 1968, and he would gain employment with the Exxon Mobil Joliet Refinery where he worked for over 25 years until he retired.

He was an avid outdoorsman who found great joy with being out in nature. Jerry was a member of the Will County Sportsman's Club and he especially enjoyed visiting Grand Teton National Park. He was a sportsman, taking great pleasure in fishing and going on deer hunting trips to Southern Illinois. Jerry loved going for rides on his Kawasaki motorcycle and piloting Cessna airplanes. He was a hard working man who loved his children more than anything else.

Survivors include three children: Julie Weldin of Cabery, Illinois, Scott Weldin of Port Orange, Florida, and Maggie (Andrew Drummond) Weldin of Longwood, Florida; one sister, Rachel (the late Jack) Carroll of Chicago, Illinois, one sister-in-law, Nadine Weldin of Missouri, and several nieces and nephews.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Ron Weldin and Guy (Kathy) Weldin, and one sister, Kay (John) Giles.

Private family services will be held and Jerry will be laid to rest at Oakwood Cemetery in Wilmington.
