Jerry McLuckie

Age 62 of Coal City passed away Monday May 23, 2016 at his home.

Born July 11, 1953 in Joliet, Jerry Jon was a son of John “Bill” and June Guardia-McLuckie.  He was raised and educated in Coal City, and graduated from Coal City High School with the Class of 1971.  Jerry served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War, and owned and operated Paint Me A Rainbow for seventeen years.  He was a former Commander of the Coal City V.F.W. and a member of the National Rifle Association and Starved Rock Motorcycle Chapter. Jerry was active in the community as past board member of the Coal City Area Club and Coal City Zoning Board, and as a volunteer fireman and member of the dive team.  In his free time, he enjoyed sports, especially the Chicago Cubs, and hosting Thursday night cards in his garage.  Jerry will also be remembered for his enjoyment of fishing and riding his Harley Davidson.

Survivors include his mother: June McLuckie; two daughters: Melissa (Keith) Olson of Dwight and Megan (Nick) Crawford of San Diego, California; three grandchildren: Kaleb and Owen Olson, and Isadora Crawford; one brother: Robert (Helen) McLuckie of Cottonwood, Arizona; many friends, and his dear friend and companion: Delores McElroy.

Jerry was preceded in death by his father Bill McLuckie and one brother: William Lee McLuckie.

Visitation will be held Thursday, May 26, 2016 between the hours of 2:00 and 8:00 p.m. at Reeves Funeral Home, 75 North Broadway, in Coal City. Burial with Full Military Honors will be Friday, May 27, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood.  Family and friends who wish to go in procession to the cemetery should meet at the funeral home on Friday, May 27, 2016 by 9:00 a.m.
