Jean H. Haven

Age 93 of Wilmington and formerly Mt. Prospect, passed away peacefully Wednesday August 27, 2008 at Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee.

Born June 30, 1915 in Syracuse, New York, Jean was a daughter of the late James and Mary Smith-Crabb. For many years Jean worked for the City of Chicago's Municipal Employee Pension Office, from where she retired. After retirement she and her husband Lawrence moved to Wilmington, where along with their son Bob, opened "The Creamery", which was a very popular local restaurant. Jean was a lifetime member of the P.E.O. Order of the Eastern Star and a member of the Wilmington Garden Club and the Wilmington Historical Society. She was an avid reader, member of the Wilmington Senior Citizens Group and loved to play cards.

Survivors include her loving daughter Carol (Bob) Bialecki of Chicago; four grandchildren: Cindy (Dave) Poole of Channahon, Robbie Haven of Zion, Linda (Ken) Just of Deerfield and Jim (Kate) Bialecki of North Barrington. Five great grandchildren: Brittany and Alyssa Poole, Andrew Haven, Trevor Just and Jack Bialecki; her former daughter-in-law Char (Tim) Nolan; one sister Agnes Reed of Frankfort and numerous nieces and nephews, as well as special friends and neighbors Jim and Sandy Reeves and family.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents, husband Lawrence (1982); son Bob (2005); one granddaughter Elizabeth; two sisters: Lily Michau and Ivy Phillips and one brother Alec Crabb.

Graveside services will be held on Tuesday September 02, 2008 at Chapel Hill Gardens South in Worth at 11:00AM. Rev. Jay Lee from the First United Methodist Church in Wilmington will officiate.

Preferred memorials in lieu of flowers may be made as gifts in Jean's memory to a charity of the donor's choice.
