Age 86 of Wilmington, Illinois passed away Thursday, September 26, 2024 at The ARC of Dwight.
Born May 2, 1938 in Joliet, Illinois Janet Marie was a daughter of Francis “Frank” and Ruth (Noble) Cercello. She was raised in Joliet and went on to graduate from Joliet Township High School. On May 7, 1960, Janet married George E. Sirovy in Joliet and together they made a home and raised their son.
Janet and George owned and operated Wilmington Bowling Center for two decades, and she found joy in the simple pleasures of life, including spending time on the Kankakee River, where she loved to pontoon. An avid lover of animals, she shared her home with her adored cats and took pleasure in watching her favorite films on Hallmark and Lifetime. Dining out at Olive Garden and cherishing moments with family brought her great happiness.
Janet will be remembered for her warm spirit, her love for her family, and the joyful memories she created throughout her life. She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished moments that will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Survivors include her son, Terry Sirovy of Wilmington; two grandchildren: Nicholas (Maddison) Sirovy of Aurora and Sarah (Niko) Cyrkiel of Wilmington; one great grandchild expected; one sister-in-law, Nancy Cercello; two brothers-in-law, Robert (Kay) Sirovy and Fred Sirovy, and nieces and nephews: Kevin (Julie) Cercello, Angela (Tam) Truong, Stephanie (Tony) Felesena and Lisa (Pat) Hinsdale, as well as numerous great nieces and great nephews.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents; husband George on November 20, 2009, and two brothers: Kenneth Cercello and Ronald Cercello.
Cremation rites have been accorded.
The family will receive friends for a memorial visitation at Reeves Funeral Home, 75 North Broadway (one block north of Illinois Route 113) in Coal City on Sunday, October 6, 2024 between the hours of 1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. Services will follow Monday morning, October 7, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home with Deacon William Dunn from Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Parish in Coal City presiding.
Inurnment will be in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, where Janet will be laid to rest with her late husband, George.
