Janet R. Evans

Age 76 of Wilmington, formerly Braidwood, passed away Friday April 21, 2017 at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home.

Born August 28, 1940 in Herrin, Illinois, Janet Rae was raised and educated in Herrin, before her family relocated to Braidwood, where she would live most of her adult life. She married the late Vance Evans, and would gain employment with the Reed-Custer School District as a custodian, and work for them for seventeen years until she retired. Janet was well known for her love of going to garage sale days. She would travel to many of the local town-held garage sale days looking for a great find, which is a joy she has passed on to her friends and family. Janet was a kind, caring woman who knew all about anyone she would meet after spending just a few minutes with them. Janet will also be fondly remembered for her love of a donut from Dunkin Donuts and a sweet tea from McDonalds.

Survivors include her four daughters: Liz Eubanks of Wilmington, Tina (Russ) Honeycutt of Chenoa, Vanessa Humphrey of Tennessee, and Valerie Hnetkovsky (John Eli) of Wilmington; (11) grandchildren, (15) great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and her beloved friend and caretaker: Carole Billingsley of Wilmington.

Janet was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Per Janet’s wishes, cremation rites have been accorded, and a graveside service will be held at a later date in Braceville-Gardner Cemetery.
