James W. West

Age 73, of Custer Park passed away Sunday April 27, 2014 at Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee.

Born April 7, 1941 James was a son of the late Lincoln and Bernice (nee Brennan) West. He was raised and educated in Chicago, where he graduated from Leo High School in 1960. On April 16, 1966, James married Sharon T. Ivancicts at Saint Rita Catholic Church in Chicago. He was a retired pipefitter and a 50 year member of Local #597. James belonged to Saint Rose Catholic Church in Wilmington, the A.F.&A.M, Wilmington Lodge, and Braidwood Recreation Club. He was a 30 year Friend of Bill, and enjoyed spending his time outdoors, which included fishing, camping, boating and gardening. James also was an avid sports fan, especially of the Chicago White Sox, Blackhawks and the Green Bay Packers.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years Sharon; six children: Christine (Tom) Begler of Braidwood, Jean (David) Gerat of Minooka, Katherine (John) Wagner of Westmont, Therese (Michael) Weaver of Wilmington, James (Angie) West of Minooka and Anne Edrisi of Irvine, CA; eleven grandchildren: Zachary, Jacob, Matthew, Rachel, Taylor, Brianna, Owen, Jessica, Kayla, Amir and Aaliyah; one sister: Jean (Dennis) Gilday of Ballwin, MO; one brother: Brian (Sue) West of Essex; and his beloved dogs: Bearon and Cody.

James was preceded in death by his parents and one granddaughter Arianna.

Visitation and video tribute will be held on Thursday May 1st, between the hours of 4:00PM and 8:00PM at Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 East Kahler Road in Wilmington. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow on Friday May 2 ^nd at 11:00AM in Saint Rose Catholic Church, 604 South Kankakee Street in Wilmington. Reverend Steve Bondi will officiate. Green Cremation rites will be accorded following the services.
