James P. Welsh

Age 72 of Wilmington and formerly of Orland Park, passed away Monday morning, July 13, 2015 at his home.

Born December 1, 1942 in Chicago, James Patrick was a son of Patrick and Dorothy (Stremme) Welsh. He was raised and educated in the Evergreen Park and Beverly area and went on to honorably serve in the United States Navy. He worked as a truck driver with Teamsters Local #731 and belonged to the Wilmington VFW and New Lenox American Legion. Jim enjoyed riding horses and will be remembered as Cowboy Jim.

Survivors include four daughters: Jackie Welsh of Wilmington, Vicki (Ryan) Musil of Mokena and Bonnie (Bret) Deval and Jerri (David) Lacher, both of New Lenox; eight grandchildren: Elizabeth, Bradley, Mitchell, Morgan, Brittany, Leah, Alyssa and Kendell; one sister Patricia (the late Pat) Sullivan of Indiana and one brother Robert (Cheryl) Welsh of California, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; wife Roberta (nee Lucas) in 1999; grandson Lucas in infancy and one brother Michael Welsh.

Visitation and video tribute will be held on Thursday, July 16, 2015 between the hours of 6:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. at Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 East Kahler Road in Wilmington. Cremation rites will be accorded following the visitation. Inurnment with full military honors will be in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, where both Jim and Roberta will be laid to rest.
