James Alan Schaefer

"Bud"

Age 74 of Marseilles and formerly of Morris, passed away Tuesday morning June 16, 2015 at his home.

Born October 11, 1940 in Chicago, James Alan was a son of the late Charles and Ruth (Weinacker) Schaefer. He was raised and educated in Oak Lawn and went on to honorably serve in the United States Navy during the Vietnam Conflict. Bud will be remembered for his love of hunting, fishing, gardening and butterflies.

Survivors include his wife Judy (nee Hahn); son Bobby (Bridgette) Schaefer of Wilmington; step-children: Michael (Mary) McKee and Jennifer (Frank) Shipman, both of Morris; (9) grandchildren: Bailey, Bradley and Brianna Schaefer, Amanda (fiancé, Andrew Hixon), Brandon and Rebecca McKee and Jason (Marissa), Heather and Kassandra Shipman; one great grandson Caden Shipman; brother Robert (Pearl) Schaefer; step-brother Lee (Roxanne) Schaefer and numerous nieces and nephews.

Bud was preceded in death by his parents and step-father Joseph Blaha.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 20, 2015 from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Reeves Funeral Home, 75 North Broadway (one block north of Illinois Route 113) in Coal City. Green flameless cremation will follow and inurnment will be in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery at a later date.
