James Phillips

Mr. James Francis Phillips

Age 89 of Morris, passed away Monday June 25, 2007 at Morris Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.

Born April 02, 1918 in Coal City, Jim was a son of the late James and Katie (Anselmo) Phillips. On May 23, 1942 he married Frances Crouch in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Morris and together they farmed in the Mazon area most of their married life.

Survivors include three daughters: Linda Childress of Mazon, Janice (Jerry) Fitzgerald of Coal City and Elaine Burkett of Channahon; one son James Robert (Lois) Phillips of Coal City; nine grandchildren: Brian (Lisa) Kline of Saunemin, Robert (Sandy) Metroz of Morris, Dawn and Wayne Metroz of Birch Tree, Missouri, Thomas and Robert (Jill) Fitzgerald of Dearborn, Michigan, Jamie Phillips of Malta, Illinois, Laurie Phillips of Champaign and David (Michelle) Burkett of Shorewood; nine great grandchildren; one sister Vivian (Rudy) Maierhofer of Seneca and one brother Robert (Betty) Phillips of Morris, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; Wife Frances in 1999; three sisters: Thelma Holbrook, Doris Knapp and Margret "Peggy" Peterson and three brothers: John "Melvin", Walter "Wally" and George.

Visitation and Video Tribute will be held on Thursday June 28, 2007 between the hours of 4:00PM and 8:00PM at Reeves Funeral Home, 408 East Washington Street (One block East of Illinois Route 47) in Morris. Funeral services will follow on Friday June 29th at 10:00AM in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Morris, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated with Rev. Richard Smith officiating. Burial will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery and Pallbearers will be: Thomas N. Peterson, Robert J. Maierhofer, Walter A. Phillips, Jr., Patrick A. Phillips, David J. Phillips and Jerry Hoffman. Honorary pallbearer will be Michael A. Phillips.

Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Jim's memory to Joliet Area Community Hospice, 250 Water Stone Circle, Joliet, Illinois 60431 or Grundy Community Volunteer Hospice, 1802 North Division Street, Suite #222, Morris, Illinois 60450.
