James Joseph Pantaleone
Age 82 of Coal City, passed away peacefully December 5, 2012 at his home.
Born May 17, 1930 in Coal City, Jim was a son of the late James Joseph, Sr. and Madeline Marietta-Pantaleone. He was raised and educated in Coal City, and graduated with the Coal City High School Class of 1948. He was Veteran of the United States Army and honorably served during the Korean Conflict. On October 15, 1955, Jim married June Rose McLuckie in Assumption Catholic Church in Coal City, and she preceded him on September 2, 2012. Jim worked as a butcher and meat cutter for A&P for most of his career and held the position of Mayor of Diamond in the early 1970's. Jim was a member of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church in Coal City, American Legion, and Good Sams Camping Club a�" Atom Sams Chapter. He enjoyed walking at the Coal City Area Club, camping and gardening. In his free time Jim took pleasure in reading, especially westerns.
Survivors include his two children: James (Sharyl) Pantaleone of Anchorage, Alaska and Carol Pantaleone of Batavia, Illinois; three grandchildren: David Pantaleone, Rob Pantaleone and Scott Pantaleone, all of Anchorage; one brother Peter (Juanita) Pantaleone and one sister Joan (the late Harold) Ryan, both of Coal City and two sisters-in-law: Jessie (the late Kenneth) Nixon of Sarasota, Florida and Darlene McLuckie of Coal City, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; wife June Rose; brother-in-law Thomas McLuckie and nephew Mark McLuckie.
Cremation rites have been accorded and Jim will be laid to rest with his wife June in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Wilmington.
A Celebration of Jim and June Pantaleone's Life will be held Saturday, December 29, 2012 at the Pantaleone home located at 1395 East Division Street in Diamond. The family will hold an open house with appetizer's and beverage.
