James S. Norman, Sr.
Age 72 of Wilmington, passed away Thursday January 22, 2015 at the University of Chicago Medical Center in Chicago.
Born August 19, 1942, James was raised in Tennessee until moving to Mt. Clemens, Michigan, from where he graduated high school. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Wilmington; belonged to the Wilmington Lodge #208 A.F. & A.M. and was a 44 year member of the Carpenters Local #916. Jim retired from Lindblad Construction in Joliet in 2006. He enjoyed fishing, four wheeling, traveling, and spending time at Paw Paw Lake in Michigan. Jim will be remembered for making jerky, and his love of spending time with this grandkids.
Survivors include his wife Connie, whom he married January 18, 1964; son James Jr. (Beth) Norman and daughter Linda (Jeff) Mueller, all of Wilmington; grandsons: Zackery (Juliet) Boyle of Quantico, Virginia, Ryan Boyle of Oceanside, California and Mitchell Norman of Wilmington; one great grandchild Bryn Boyle; sister Hilda Armes of Ohio and two brothers: Jerry Whinnie of Arkansas and Larry Whinnie of Joliet, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; brother Les Norman and several aunts and uncles who like siblings to him.
Visitation and video tribute will be held on Sunday, January 25, 2015 from 10:00 a.m. until time of services 2:00 p.m. at Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 East Kahler Road in Wilmington. Reverend Thomas Kingery from the First United Methodist Church in Wilmington will officiate and burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery, Sunset Addition in Wilmington.
Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Jim's memory to the American Heart Association.
