James Robert Lazier, III

Age 52 of Coal City and formerly of Ottawa, passed away Monday, April 6, 2015 at Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center in Joliet.

Born August 3, 1962 in Joliet, Jim is a son of James, Jr. and Enza (Poppleton) Lazier. He was raised and educated in Coal City and graduated from Coal City High School with the Class of 1981. Jim worked for Akzo Nobel in Morris prior to gaining employment with Heiss Welding Shop in Ottawa, where he most recently worked. Jim was a NASCAR enthusiast and enjoyed going to the races at both Grundy County and LaSalle County Speedways and helping out his buddies.

Survivors include his parents James, Jr. and Enza Lazier of Coal City; son Joey; daughter Tiffany; three grandchildren; one sister Jodi Gutzman; brother Jeffrey Lazier; two nieces and one nephew, including Andrea Gutzman-Slush; one great nephew Coleman; one great niece Adriana and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Jim was preceded in death by his grandparents: Joe and Gladys Lazier and George and Lucy Poppleton.

Cremation rites have been accorded and a memorial gathering will be held on Sunday May 3, 2015 between the hours of 2:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. at Jim's parents home, which is located at 113 West Willow Street in Coal City.

Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Jim's memory to the Assumption Church Building Campaign, 195 South Kankakee Street, Coal City, Illinois 60416
