James Roy Kroener

Age 81 of Goose Lake, passed away Wednesday April 16, 2008 in Hinsdale, after complications from surgery.

Born November 14, 1926 in Chicago, Roy was a son of the late Charles Otto and Angeline Quick-Kroener. He was raised and educated in Chicago and attended Saint Rita High School. Roy served in the United States Marine Corp during World War II, The Korean War and during peace time. On June 12, 1948, Roy married Geraldine N. "Jerry" Arnold in Fredericksburg, Virginia and together they resided in Chicago, Lisle and Plainfield, prior to moving to Goose Lake. Roy was a retired professional over-the-road driver for Sears and was a member of the Downers Grove Sportsmens Club since 1959. Roy also served as a volunteer fireman in Lisle for many years.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years: Jerry; two children: Karen (Chip) Vander Veen of Bolingbrook and Roy (Cynthia) Kroener of Davis, California and one sister Regina Kroener, as well as seven nieces and nephews.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents, brother Charles Kroener and one sister Florence John.

Visitation and Video Tribute will be held on Sunday April 20, 2008 from 2:00PM until time of funeral service 7:00PM at Reeves Funeral Home, 75 North Broadway (one block North of Illinois Route 113) in Coal City. Burial with full military honors will follow on Monday April 21st at 9:30AM in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood. Friends wishing to attend the cemetery services are asked to assemble by 9:15AM at the Welcome Center of the Cemetery.
