Rev. Mr. John J. Schimandle
"Jack"
Age 59 and a lifelong resident of Coal City, passed away Monday January 08, 2007 at Morris Hospital.
Born February 23, 1947 in Joliet, Jack was a son of the late John and Dawn (Marsaglia) Schimandle. He was raised and educated in Coal City and Graduated with the Coal City High School Class of 1965. Jack attended Joliet Junior College and Roosevelt University, graduating from Illinois Benedictine College with a Bachelors of Science degree in Chemistry. He was a combat veteran of the US Army, having served during the Vietnam era. On May 08, 1971, Jack married Celia Vota in Coal City, where together they lived most of their married life. Jack was an ordained Deacon with the Joliet Catholic Diocese and most recently served at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Braidwood. He was a member of the Knight's of Columbus Braidwood Council, and most recently was employed with Western-Southern Financial Insurance of Joliet. Jack was very involved with Coal City High School Sports and kept score and time for Football and Basketball games for more than 20 years. He was also a former substitute teacher in Coal City, Braceville, Morris and Wilmington. Jack was an avid train enthusiast.
Survivors include his wife Celia; two children: Aaron (Jen) Schimandle and Jacqueline Schilmandle, both of Coal City and one grandson Cayden. One brother Jim Schimandle of Long Beach, California and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation and Video Tribute will be held on Thursday January 11, 2007 between the hours of 4:00PM and 8:00PM at Reeves Funeral Home, 75 North Broadway (one block North of Illinois 113) in Coal City. Funeral services will follow on Friday January 12, 2007 at 10:00AM in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 110 S. School Street at Main Street (Illinois Route 113) in Braidwood, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated.
Burial will be in Braceville-Gardner Cemetery and pallbearers will be: David Wills, Mike Berta, John Dite, Bill Johnson, Jason Scott and Kevin Scott.
