Jack Cobb
Age 83 of Morris, passed away Thursday morning March 5, 2015 at Regency Health Care in Morris.
Born August 15, 1931 in Glen Allen, Missouri, Jackie Lynn was a son of the late Everett Myron and Luella (Long) Cobb. He was a graduate of Woodland High School in Lutesville, Missouri and went on to attend college in Cape Girardeau. Jack honorably served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict, and on January 1, 1954, he married Eugenia Isabelle Sharp in Mississippi. Jack gained employment at Amoco Chemical Company, from where he retired in 1994 after more than 30 years of service. Jack was a former member of the First Baptist Church in Morris and most recently attended the Minooka United Methodist Church. He was a former member of the Morris Moose Lodge, bowled on leagues in both Joliet and Morris, and participated in the Amoco Retiree’s Club. Jack took pleasure in metal detecting and working both crossword and jigsaw puzzles. He will most be remembered for his love of time spent with his grandkids.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Jean; three children: Charles Cobb of Mazon, Brent Cobb of New Lenox and Kristal Spencer of Minooka; five grandchildren: Meigan (Phil) Hansett, Kaitlyn Cobb, Trevor Spencer, Connor Spencer and Cole Spencer; one great grandson John; one sister-in-law Louise Johnston of Morris and several nieces and nephews, as well as two cousins: Linda (Oscar) Govreau of Missouri and Norma Crews of Georgia.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters: Janice and Betty.
Visitation will be held on Sunday March 8, 2015 between the hours of 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. at Reeves Funeral Home, 408 East Washington Street (one block east of Illinois Route 47) in Morris. Funeral services will follow Monday morning March 9th at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Richard Darr officiating.
Burial will be in Sample Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Charles Cobb, Trevor Spencer, Connor Spencer, Cole Spencer and Brian Spencer.
