Irvin F. Holm, Sr.

Age 96 of Wilmington, passed away Friday October 10, 2008 at Silver Cross Medical Center in Joliet.

Born August 16, 1912 in Emington, Illinois, Irvin was a son of the late Peter and Anna Skow-Holm. He was raised in the Emington area and served our Country during World War II in the 81st Division of the 321st Regiment of the South Pacific Theater of Operations. Irvin was employed at the Joliet Army Ammunition Plant and retired from UniRoyal after numerous years of service. He was known for his woodworking craftsmanship, and aside from his woodworking, Irvin greatly enjoyed gardening and his family.

Survivors include his son Irvin F., Jr. (Penny M.) Holm of Wilmington; two grandchildren: Nathaniel Holm of Wilmington and Megan (Joshua) Corlett of Chicago; two sisters: Alberta (Clarence) Simantel of Dwight and Aldine (the late Herman) Olsen; one brother-in-law Robert Mickelson of Dwight; one sister-in-law Adelaide Holm of Joliet and his special neighbors: Judy Howell and Jackie Nutt, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Irvin was preceded in death by his parents, wife Evelyn in 1982; three brothers: Herbert, Delbert and Milo and one sister Louise Mickelson

Visitation will be held on Tuesday October 14, 2008 between the hours of 3:00PM and 7:00PM and Wednesday October 15th from 9:00AM until time of funeral service 10:00AM at Reeves Funeral Home, 219 North Joliet Street (two blocks North of Illinois Route 53 / Baltimore Street) in Wilmington. Rev. Hyu-Jae Lee from the First United Methodist Church in Wilmington will officiate.

Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Wilmington and pallbearers will be: Nathaniel Holm, Josh Corlett, Maynard Olsen, Bill Weidling, Andy Rogers, Wayne Milton and Larry Mickelson.

Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Irvin's memory to the Parkinson's Association.
