Holly Fritz

Age 91 of Bettendorf, Iowa, died Friday, February 21, 2025 at the Vistas at Bettendorf.

Born July 25, 1933 in Kulczyn, Poland, Holly was a daughter of Edmund and Johanna (Kitzmann) Fritz. She was raised and educated in Kulczyn and Wedel, Germany until her family emigrated to the United States in 1952 when she was eighteen. Holly's family settled in Morris, Illinois, where she worked at Hornsbys Stores for a time before she moved to Chicago, Illinois where she worked as a nanny. She later gained employment with the Milwaukee Railroad Company doing secretarial work for several years, then relocated to San Francisco, California where she would spend the next 40 years of her life. After retirement, she returned to Illinois and settled in Elmhurst before relocating to Bettendorf to be closer to family.

Holly was a selfless woman who always aspired to help anyone in need however she could. As a young woman, she enjoyed going dancing with her friends, and was proud of her German roots and was a member of a German Heritage Association while she lived in Chicago. Holly's kindness and thoughtfulness were apparent to all who knew her, especially how often she expressed thankfulness for any kindness done for her, always making a point to say "Thank You".

Survivors include her brother, Manfred (Sandra) Fritz of Bettendorf; three sisters-in-law: Arlene Bentley, Bonnie Badurski, and Kathy Fritz; nieces and nephews: Larry (Marissa) Weber, Nathan (Kelly) Fritz, Monica (Jim) Gabehart, Kiersten Fritz-Girten, and Gerek (Nancy) Fritz; as well as many cousins in the United States and Europe, and her dear friend, JulieAnn Smith.

Holly was preceded in death by her parents: Johanna Fritz and Edmund (Martha) Fritz; brothers and sisters: Alice, Regina, Ewald, Erich (Lorraine), Ida, Hugo, Lucille, and Reinhold; and one nephew, Tommy Weber.

Per her wishes, cremation rites have been accorded and private services were held. Holly will be laid to rest at Sample Cemetery in Morris with her family.
