Age 84 and a lifelong resident of Wilmington, passed away Saturday May 26, 2007 at his home.

Born in Joliet, a son of the late Eugene and Harriett (Dubet) Kahler, Hervey was a veteran of WWII, having served in the US Navy. He was employed by Olin Chemical Co. where he retired after 39 years and was a member of the Retirees Club. Hervey was a life member of Cantigny VFW Post 367, member of the Moose Lodge 241 in Wilmington and the Joliet Rivals Club. In his pastime Hervey enjoyed his garden and flowers and car racing.

Hervey is survived by his caring and beloved wife Dorothy (nee Valerio) and cherished daughter Alyce Sue (Jack) Mikel. One granddaughter and two grandsons; Several nieces and nephews, including one special niece Judy Kahler-Sundine and grand nephew Cody Sundine, as well as many other dear relatives and friends.

Hervey was preceded in death by his parents and one brother and sister-in-law: John and Marge Kahler.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday May 29, 2007 between the hours of 4:00PM and 7:00PM at Reeves Funeral Home, 219 North Joliet Street (two blocks North of Illinois Route 53 / Baltimore Street) in Wilmington. Funeral services will follow on Wednesday May 30th at 11:00AM in the funeral home with Pastor Ron Taylor officiating.

Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Wilmington.
