Age 78 of Gardner, Illinois formerly of Joliet, Illinois, died Thursday, April 24, 2025 in his home.
Born April 17, 1947 in Joliet, Henry William was raised in Joliet and attended Joliet West High School where he graduated with the Class of 1965. He began his career with Caterpillar in Joliet until he was selected into military service. Bill served honorably in the United States Army where he was stationed in Germany until his discharge. On June 13, 1970, he married Carol Ann Webb in Joliet where they made their home until 1979 when they relocated to Gardner where they raised their children.
Bill rejoined Caterpillar after his military service and was employed as a Machinist until he retired after 32 years of service. He and Carol enjoyed going on trips, especially to Las Vegas where they enjoyed trying their luck in the casinos. Bill was a Harley Davidson enthusiast, looking forward to any opportunity to go for a ride on his bike. His family is what mattered most to him, making sure to make almost every event his grandchildren were involved in, and he will be missed dearly by those who loved him.
Survivors include his two children: Tonya (Darrin) Fisher and Henry (Michelle) Miner, Jr., both of Gardner; five grandchildren: Joshua (Ashley) Davidson, Jack (Jen) Davidson, Tanner (fiancé: Alyssa Hayward) Fisher, Riley (fiancé: Kaylee Gelsthorpe) Miner, and Delaney (fiancé: Eric Meaker) Miner; three great grandchildren: Savannah Granger and Davina and Leon Davidson, with one more expected; two sisters-in-law: Deb (Bob) Burns of Port Charlotte, Florida and Cheryl (Steve) Krouse of Ottawa, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.
Bill was preceded in death by his loving adoptive parents: Frances and Dewey Boswell, and his biological mother, Maude (Waters) Miner; and his wife, Carol Ann Miner.
Per Bill’s wishes, cremation rites are being accorded and there will be no services at this time.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Bill’s memory may be made to Lightways Hospice in Joliet.
