Age 80 and a lifelong resident of Coal City , passed away Thursday December 21, 2006 at Kindred Hospital in Sycamore.

Born June 15, 1926 in Coal City , Hank was a son of the late Clyde and Lucille (Colson) Miller. Hank was a veteran of the US Navy, having served during World War II and received a Purple Heart while aboard the USS Rall DE304. On February 17, 1946 Hank married Julia Elam in the Coal City United Methodist Church , and she preceded him in death in 2001. Hank was employed by Uniroyal at the Joliet Arsenal for 42 years until his retirement. He was an avid sports fan, especially the Chicago White Sox and was a fisherman and pheasant hunter. Hank loved to pilot his pontoon boat around the Coal City Area Club.

Survivors include one daughter Lynda (Bill) Scerine of Coal City ; two sons: Gary (Kay) Miller of Picayune, Mississippi and Rick (Judy) Miller of Coal City . Seven grandchildren: Julie Scerine of Troy Missouri, Lauren (Bill) Walsh of Gardner, Kristy (Chip) Cerovac of Daytona Beach, Florida, Keith (Terri) Scerine of Coal City, Bridgett (Jared) Kobs of Madison, Mississippi, Rodney (Ashley) King of Picayune, Mississippi, and Belinda (John) Anderson of San Diego, California. Seven Great Grandchildren: Cole Walsh, Quinn Walsh, Jacob Cerovac, Erin Scerine, Jack Scerine, Avery Kobs and Macie King. Two brothers: Clyde (Marilee) Miller of Florida and Orville (Marlene) Miller of Coal City and one sister Jane (Dale) Larson of Coal City, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Hank was preceded in death by his parents, wife Julia, grandson Brad McCammon, granddaughter Beth Miller, two sisters: Lola Wilson and Elsie Thorson and one brother Gibson Miller.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday December 26, 2006 between the hours of 4:00PM and 8:00PM at Reeves Funeral Home, 75 North Broadway (one block North of Illinois Route 113) in Coal City . Hank will then lie in state Wednesday December 27th from 9:00AM until time of Funeral Service 10:00AM at the Coal City United Methodist Church, 6805 East McArdle Road in Coal City. Dr. Thomas Logsdon will officiate the services and burial will follow in Braceville-Gardner Cemetery .
