Henry R. Abraham, Sr.

Age 79 of Wilmington, passed away peacefully Tuesday December 9, 2014 at his home in Wesley Township.

Born March 26, 1935 in Peoria, Henry was a son of the late Harvey Russell and Rose (McManus) Abraham. He was raised in Peoria and went on to honorably serve in the United States Army. On December 28, 1969, Henry married Carol James and she preceded him in November of 1996. Henry served as an auxiliary police deputy for the Will County Sheriff's Office; retired from Caterpillar Joliet Plant in 1990, and after the death of his wife Carol in 1996, went to work at Whitmore Ace Hardware in Wilmington. Henry loved to hunt and fish, as well as trap shoot. He enjoyed woodworking, collected guns and in years past took pleasure in model airplanes. He held a private pilot's license, and loved his plane and motorcycles.

Survivors include (8) children: Henry R. "Rusty" Abraham, Jr. of Wilmington, Kathy (Brian) Dreher of Joliet, Barb DuBois of Williamsport, Indiana, Emerson (Marla) Abraham of Morton, Lori Meek (fiancAC. Randy Smith) of Williamsport, Diane (Scott) Gregory of Attica, Indiana; Peggy Abraham-Revis of Washington, Illinois and Kelly Shawn (Vivian) Abraham of East Peoria; (20) grandchildren; (34) great grandchildren; sisters: Rosalie Buckner, Doris Killingsworth and Joyce Derossett; brothers-in-law: Wayne James and Raymond James and sisters-in-law: Betty Krichbaum and Linda Simmons.

Henry was preceded in death by his parents; wife Carol; granddaughter Amber Grabil; great grandson Gavin Grabil; two brothers: Don and Deat, and one sister Sharon.

Visitation and video tribute will be held on Friday December 12, 2014 between the hours of 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. at Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 East Kahler Road in Wilmington. Funeral services will follow Saturday morning December 13th at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home with Reverend Dr. Roy Backus officiating.

Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Wilmington. Pallbearers will be: Henry R. "Rusty" Abraham, Jr., Emerson Abraham, Kelly Shawn Abraham, Shawn Abraham, Doug Feazel and Josh Feazel.

Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Henry's memory to the American Cancer Society.
