Age 87 of Coal City and formerly Wilmington, passed away Monday May 10, 2010 at Walnut Grove Village in Morris.

Born March 17, 1923 in Vicksburg, Mississippi, Hellen was a daughter of the late Rex and Marcia Ellen Overman-Grove. She was raised and educated in Tulip, Missouri and on March 18, 1939, Hellen married James Nugent Harlow in Columbia, Missouri. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Coal City and former member of Grundy County Extension, Coal City Red Hat Society, Coal City Senior Citizens and was a volunteer for various community and church events. Hellen was known for her love of flowers, gardening, sewing and crafting.

Survivors include three daughters: Phyllis Fowler (John) of Arcadia, Florida, Kay Tummel (Ron Thompson) of Newark and Nancy Whittington (Bob) of Streamwood; five grandchildren: John Fowler, II (Norma) of Zolfo Springs, Florida, Kelly Beasley (Doug) of Morris, Karyn Qureshi (Farooq) of Kankakee, Laura Weging of Woodstock and Jessica Corley of Elgin; six great grandchildren: James Fowler (LaPita), John Fowler, III, Andrew Beasley, Joshua Beasley, Joseph Boyle and Nikko Weging and two sisters: Carolyn (Grover) Calton of Fortuna, Missouri and Mary Biere of Moberly, Missouri, as well as, numerous nieces and nephews.

Hellen was preceded in death by her parents, husband James on December 21, 1994, one grandson in infancy and numerous other family members.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday May 12, 2010 between the hours of 5:00PM and 8:00PM at Reeves Funeral Home, 75 North Broadway (one block North of Illinois Route 113) in Coal City. Funeral services will follow on Thursday May 13th at 10:00AM in the funeral home with Pastor Avery Wilson officiating. Burial will be in Willard Grove Cemetery in Channahon.

Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Hellen's memory to First Baptist Church of Coal City, P.O. Box 39, Coal City, Illinois 50416 or Joliet Area Community Hospice, 250 Water Stone Circle, Joliet, Illinois 60431.
