Helen M. Savage (nee Weber)

Age 91 of Gardner, passed away Thursday morning, April 23, 2009 Morris Hospital.

Born March 31, 1918 in Dwight, Illinois Helen was a daughter of the late Frank Weber and Edna (Larson) Weber. She was raised and educated in Dwight, and graduated from Dwight High School. On November 08, 1942, Helen married Dean Savage in Alexandria, Louisiana. After marriage, Dean and Helen lived in Coal City until moving to Gardner in 1947, where they spent the remainder of their married life. Helen worked for the Gardner Chronicle as a line type operator prior to gaining employment with Bailey Printing, from where she retired in 1993. She enjoyed shopping, eating out, reading, working crossword puzzles and talking to friends and family on the telephone. Helen was an avid White Sox Fan. She was also a member of the Church of Hope in Gardner, Illinois.

Helen is survived by her two daughters, Deanna "Dede" (Bruce) Trotter of Mazon, Illinois and Brenda (Col. Thomas) Boyd of Moline, Illinois; one grandson, Michael (Cathy) Trotter of Montgomery, Illinois; one Great Grandchild, Morgan Trotter; Nieces and Nephews: Lila (Ray) Dite of Morris, James (Kay) Horrie, Jr. of Saunemin, Jerry (Donna Mary) Horrie of South Wilmington, Sandy (David) Lardi of Gardner, Larry (Barb) Sorensen of Joliet, Nancy (John) Muzzerelli of Daytona Beach, Florida, Debbie (Phil) Becker and Bonnie Lundberg, both of Dwight and Kathryn Elaine (John) Curtis, Carol (Terry) Stark and Marvin (Gay) Pfeiffer, all of Tucson, Arizona.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, husband Dean on September 03, 1985, one brother Frank Weber and one sister Louise Zebell, both of Dwight.

Visitation and Video Tribute will be held on Sunday April 26, 2009 between the hours of 3:00PM and 7:00PM at Reeves Funeral Home, 203 Liberty Street in downtown Gardner.

Helen will then lie in state at the Church of Hope, 202 N. Monroe Street in Gardner on Monday April 27, 2009 from 10:00AM until time of funeral service 11:00AM. Pastor Jan Chandler will officiate and burial will be in Braceville-Gardner Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Michael Trotter, Jim Horrie, Jerry Horrie, David Lardi, Larry Sorensen and Dan Fatta.

Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Helen's memory to The Church of Hope or the Gardner Fire Department and Ambulance.
