Helen F. Phillips
(nee Onsen)
Age 91 of Wilmington, passed away Sunday January 06, 2008, surrounded by her loving family at the Miller Center in Kankakee.
Born December 20, 1916 in Goose Lake Township, Helen was a daughter of the late Andrew and Hazel Brown Onsen. She was very active with the Jackson Township Homemakers, First Presbyterian Church in Wilmington, 4-H Leaders of Will County, the Republican Womens Club and was lovingly devoted to her family. Helen and her husband George were actively engaged in farming in the Florence Township area for numerous years.
Survivors include three very special and loving daughters: Rita (the late Ed) McGrath, Helen Marie Hoppe and Georgia (Bill) Phelan. (15) Grandchildren: George (Pat), Jerry (Jody), Mike (Sandy), Chris, Joe (Janet), Tom (Vilma) and Patrick Nugent, Dan, Jim (Jeanne), Bill (Missy) and Tom McGrath, Patty (Bob) Berg, Mary (Craig) Bisping, Colleen (Todd) Benjamin and Steve Evans. (33) Great Grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, husband George, daughter Jean Nugent, two brothers: Harold and Warren Onsen and granddaughter Theresa Osburn.
Visitation will be Thursday January 10, 2008 between the hours of 2:00PM and 8:00PM at Reeves Funeral Home, 219 North Joliet Street (two blocks North of Illinois Route 53 / Baltimore Street) in Wilmington. Funeral services will follow on Friday January 11th at 10:00AM in the funeral home with Rev. Kay Collins officiating.
Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Wilmington.
Preferred memorials as gifts in Helen's memory to the First Presbyterian Church of Wilmington or Kuzma Care Cottage.
