Helen L. Phillips
(Nee Dare)
Age 90 of Channahon, passed away Monday night, October 7, 2012 at Evenglow Inn in Pontiac.
Born May 17, 1922 in Wilmington, Helen was a daughter of the late George and Christine Johnson-Dare. She was raised and educated in Wilmington, and graduated from Wilmington High School with the class of 1940. On January 4, 1941, Helen married Marvin "Jack" Phillip who preceded her in death in December 1994. Helen's greatest joy was her family.
Survivors include her six children: Jack (Carla) Phillips of Rockford, Robert (Kathy) Phillips of Channahon, Nancy (Dennis) Jennings of Coal City, Kenneth Phillips of Braceville, Donald (Carol) Phillips of Channahon and Diane (Ed) Anderson of Woodlawn; ten grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild and one brother: George Dare of Carbon Hill.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband Jack; parents and three sisters: Emily Marek, Christine Primm and Charlotte Welsh.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 10, 2012 between the hours of 4:00pm and 8:00 pm at Reeves Funeral Home, 75 North Broadway (one block North of Illinois Route 113) in Coal City and Thursday, October 11, 2012 from 10:00 until time of Funeral services, 11:00 am, at the funeral home with Dr. Tom Logsdon officiating. Burial will follow in Sample Cemetery.
Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Helen's memory to Vitas Hospice or Alzheimer's Association
