Helen "Bunny" Joyce

Age 89 of Coal City passed away Friday December 18, 2009 at Morris Hospital.

Born August 18, 1920 in Riverside, Illinois, Bunny was a daughter of the late Chester and Lydia Richards. She was raised and educated in the Westmont area and married William Joyce, Jr., who preceded her in death on October 26, 1979. Bunny was a member of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church in Coal City and was a former volunteer for the Coal City Seniors Center, Meals on Wheels and the Grundy County Health Department Flu Clinic. She enjoyed being active within the community and was known for her love of bowling and playing cards.

Survivors include three sons: Thomas Joyce of Landenberg, Pennsylvania, Terence Joyce of Zephyrhills, Florida and Tedmond Joyce of Diamond; six grandchildren: Marla (Scott) Dawson of Orland, California, Tara Joyce of Grayslake, Illinois, Timothy Joyce of Libertyville, Illinois, Richard (spouse: Dr. Nanci Billock) Susner of Cincinnati, Ohio, Hillary (Frank) Albrecht of Walnut Creek, California and David Friedman of Half Moon Bay, California and three great grandchildren: Alexander Albrecht, Aidan Susner and Payton Wilson, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Bunny was preceded in death by her parents; husband William Joyce, Jr.; daughter Lydia Friedman; daughter-in-law Valerie Hanson-Joyce; two sisters: Blanche and Alice; two brothers: Wesley and Carl and her sister and brother-in-law Leonora and Kenneth Joyce.

Visitation and video tribute will be held on Monday December 21, 2009 between the hours of 5:00PM and 9:00PM at Reeves Funeral Home, 75 North Broadway (one block North of Illinois Route 113) in Coal City. Funeral services will follow on Tuesday December 22nd at 9:30AM in Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church, 245 South Kankakee Street in Coal City, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated with Reverend Robert Noesen officiating.

A funeral luncheon in the Berst Center will be held at the conclusion of the services and burial will follow thereafter in Mount Auburn Cemetery in Stickney, Illinois.

Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Bunny's memory to the American Cancer Society.
