Hazel Louise Scorby

Age 87, of Red Wing, MN formerly Coal City and Lockport, IL died on Saturday December 10, 2022 surrounded by all her children.

Born January 24, 1935 in Alton, IL, a daughter to Paul Harry and Alberta E. Ackerman-Blundell. Hazel was raised and educated in Streator, IL, graduating with the Class of 1953. On November 22, 1956 she married Richard Neil Scorby in Streator and together they cherished 46 years until his passing on September 24, 2002. Hazel was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Lockport, Assumption Catholic Church and attended St. Joseph Parish in Red Wing, MN. She was a proud homemaker who enjoyed reading and cooking, and loved every chance she got to volunteer her time. Hazel cherished her family and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include five children: Deborah (James) Fox of Peotone, Pamela Fraser of Amarillo, TX, Cynthia (Tim) Eddy of Morris, Cheryl (Michael Scott) Seybert of Red Wing, MN and Richard (Susan) Scorby of Wilmington, NC; 10 grandchildren: Adam Fox, Ryan (Amanda) Fox, Taylor (Kurt Benninghuff) Fox, Ashley (Curt Demel) Fraser, Emily Fraser, Erin Fraser, Danielle (Daniel) Cassani, Kelen (Lindsey) Eddy, Casey (Jesse) Vignali and Chase (Nada) Seybert; eight great grandchildren: Gabriel Fox, Skyler Fox, Landon Demel, Darien (Matthew) Fincher, Keegan (Layne Engel) Clampitt, Jadyn Cassani, Harper Vignali, and Vivian Seybert; one great-great grandson Oliver Fincher; sister-in-law Nida Blundell; three nephews: William (Kathy) Blundell, Michael Blundell and David Blundell; numerous cousins and special friend Suzanne Neuman of Streator, IL.

Hazel was preceded in death by her parents, husband Richard, brother William Blundell and sister Pauline Blundell in childhood.

Cremation rites have been accorded. The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 17, 2022 at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church, 215 S. Kankakee Street, in Coal City from 10:00 a.m. until time of Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. Reverend Joshua Miller will preside with Deacon William Dunn assisting. Graveside services will follow in St. Stephens Cemetery in Streator, IL at 2:30 p.m.

Preferred memorials in Hazel's memory may be made as gifts to St Jude Children's Research Hospital or any local hospice organization.
