Hazel Mendenhall
Age 100 of Morris and formerly Coal City, passed away Friday morning, September 3, 2010 at the Morris Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.
Born November 21, 1909 in Minonk, Illinois, Hazel was a daughter of the late Ervin and Linnie Shaw-Monroe. She was raised and educated in Minonk and worked as a mail carrier for UniRoyal until her retirement. Hazel was a member of the Mellowdears Kitchen Band in Coal City.
Survivors include her sister Thelma Spandet of Morris and two great nieces Carol Wissmiller of Yorkville and Alice (Paul) Augustyniak of Naperville.
Hazel was preceded in death by her parents; one brother Melvin Monroe and her niece Jeanette Clemens.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday September 7, 2010 from 9:00AM until time of funeral service 10:00AM at Reeves Funeral Home, 408 East Washington Street (one block East of Illinois Route 47) in Morris. Pastor Steve Larson will officiate and burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park in Joliet.
