Harry L. Wickman

Age 87 of Morris, formerly Braidwood, passed away Friday September 2, 2016 at Morris Hospital.

Born November 21, 1928 in Joliet, Harry L. was a son of Harry and Caroline Motta-Wickman. He was raised and educated in Braidwood, and then joined the United States Navy, serving from 1946-1949. On February 3, 1951, Harry married Billie Dean Werden at Immaculate Conception Church in Braidwood. He was employed by Caterpillar as a tool grinder for thirty-plus years until his retirement in 1982. Harry was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Morris, as well as both John Martin Steele VFW Post 6049 and Morris American Legion Post 249. He was also a member of the Loyal Order of Moose and Fraternal Order of Eagles in Morris. Harry had a passion for the outdoors. He loved to camp and travel, go fishing, and work in his garden and feed the hummingbirds. Harry had a skill for woodworking, and enjoyed antiquing. He was a fun man that was known to dance and sing karaoke. Harry loved his family dearly, especially his grandchildren, who were precious to him.

Survivors include his daughter: Lorrie (Mark) Hulbert of Morris; seven grandchildren: Jennifer (Timothy) Kilcourse of Lisle, Jeffrey (Tina) Wickman of Grayslake, Nicholas (Lisa) Wickman of Hamburg, New York, Kayla Jacklin of Morris, Kate Whillock of Morris, Lukas Hulbert of Chicago and Megan Hulbert of Morris; 8 great grandchildren: Colin, Jameson and Elijah Wickman, Ava Kilcourse, Tatyana and Ethan Camacho, and Luxx and Gage Whillock; one daughter-in-law: Deborah (Ned) Jacklin of Morris; one brother-in-law: Melvin (Sandy) Werden of Fort Myers, Florida; numerous nieces and nephews, and special friend: Joan Blocker of Pontiac.

Harry was preceded in death by his parents; wife; two sons: Terry and Steven Wickman; one brother: Larry (Thelma) Wickman; and one sister: Carol (Donald) Klegman.

Visitation and video tribute will be Tuesday September 6, 2016 between the hours of 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. at Reeves Funeral Home, 408 East Washington Street, in Morris. Funeral services will follow Wednesday September 7, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, 600 East Jackson Street, Morris. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated with Reverend Ed Howe, CR officiating. Burial with full military honors provided by the Morris Color Guard will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery, Morris. Pallbearers will be Randy Werden, Daniel Werden, Eric Werden, Michael Werden, Paul Hintze and Jeffrey Kasher.
