Age 97 of Gardner, passed away Saturday December 22, 2012 at Heritage Health in Dwight.

Born January 11, 1915 in Garfield Township, Harold was a son of the late Severt and Sarah Ostrem-Severson. On September 7, 1940, Harold married Mary Ethel Spradlin in Prairie Lutheran Church and she preceded him on January 2, 2009. Harold was born, lived and farmed in Garfield Township for 94 years, and moved from the country into Gardner in 1977. He was a member of United Lutheran Church in Gardner, where he taught Sunday school for several years and also served as trustee. Harold enjoyed traveling throughout the United States, and will be remembered as a 'fun grandpa', who enjoyed playing and spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include three children: Elsie (Paul) Jerbi of Heathrow, Florida, Everett (Dorothy) Severson of Gardner and Eyvonne (Roger) Dock of Shorewood; eight grandchildren: Scott (Ninez) Jerbi of Switzerland, Julie (Jeff) Kaplan of Chuluota, Florida, Brian (Karen) Severson of rural Dwight, Evan (Lynne) Severson of Clinton, Illinois, Nathan (Sheila) Severson of Emington, Heather (Josh) Betsworth of rural Gardner, Dwain (Lynn) Ashton of Leesburg, Florida and Dawn (Chris) McBride of Waukesha, Wisconsin, and eighteen great grandchildren.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents; wife; brother and sister-in-law: Lewis and Mary Severson and two sisters and brothers-in-law: Alma and Torris Sandeno and Thena and Ed Thom.

The family will receive friends on Saturday December 29, 2012 from 10:00AM until time of funeral service 10:30AM at The United Lutheran Church, 309 East Jefferson Street in Gardner. Reverend Rodney A. Juell will officiate. Burial will follow in Round Grove Cemetery, where Harold will be laid to rest with his late wife. Harold's Grandchildren will act as pallbearers and honorary pallbearers.

Preferred memorials in lieu of flowers may be made as gifts in Harold's memory to United Lutheran Church, 309 East Jefferson Street, Gardner, Illinois 60424.
