Gordon K. Brown
"Gordy"
Age 57 of Coal City, passed away Thursday, March 31, 2011 at Morris Hospital.
Born February 23, 1954 in Joliet, Gordon was a son of the late Jesse R. and Naomi J. Dodd-Brown. He was raised and educated in Coal City and was a graduate of Coal City High School with the Class of 1972. After high school Gordon became an electrician and has been a member and was employed for IBEW Local #176 for 37 years. He was a member of the National Rifleman's Association and can be remembered for his love of fishing, hunting and drag racing.
Survivors include two brothers and one sister: Brother Roger Mark Brown, SSJE of Cambridge, Massachusetts, Kathy (James, Sr.) Martis of Coal City and David (Kim) Brown of Minooka; five nieces and nephews: James Jr. (Stacey) Martis of Coal City, Brian Brown of Cobden, Illinois, Kirt Brown of Wilmington, Ashley Brown of Colorado and Hayley Brown of Minooka; three great nieces and nephews: Blake Adams, Chase Adams and Addison Martis and aunts and uncles: John Parret of Springfield, Ed Beck of Mount Prospect, Katie Dodd of Springfield, Robert R. (Florence) Brown of Jacksonville, Alice Brown of Springfield and Mary Rasmussen of Orange, California, as well as numerous friends.
Visitation and Video Tribute will be held on Sunday April 3, 2011 between the hours of 3:00PM and 6:00PM and on Monday April 4th from 9:30AM to 10:30AM at Reeves Funeral Home, 75 North Broadway in Coal City. Graveside services and burial will follow in Braceville-Gardner Cemetery with Gordon's brother Roger Mark Brown, SSJE officiating.
