Gloria Jean VanWinsen (nee Olson)

Age 74 of Godley, passed away Thursday June 19, 2008 at her daughters home in Godley.

Born August 04, 1933 in Joliet, Gloria was a daughter of the late Joseph T., Sr. and Angeline Korelc-Olson. She was raised and educated in Joliet, where she attended St. Francis Academy and worked as a nurses aid prior to becoming a homemaker and raising her children. Gloria later worked for the Godley Park District and her hobbies included watching NASCAR racing, the Chicago Bears and playing cards to win. Gloria's most enjoyment of life was being there for her family and being a part of get togethers with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and friends.

Survivors include four daughters: Angela (Jerry) Krug of Godley, Mary (Dave) Burks of Coal City, Carol (Curt) Richmond of Braidwood and Cathleen VanWinsen of Godley; three sons: Edward, Jr. (Gina) VanWinsen of Wilmington, Thomas VanWinsen of Godley and David (Sandy) VanWinsen of Watseka; (14) Grandchildren; (16) Great Grandchildren; one sister Charlene (Ken) Hand of Missouri and three brothers: Joseph Olson, Jr. of Joliet, Jim Olson of Coal City and Paul Olson of Joliet, as well as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Gloria was preceded in death by her parents Joseph T. Olson, Sr. and Angeline (nee Korelc) Olson; husband Edward T. VanWinsen, Sr. on June 04, 1986; two brothers: Jack Olson and Tom Olson and one nephew Kenneth Hand, Jr.

Visitation and Video Tribute will be held on Sunday June 22, 2008 between the hours of 2:00PM and 6:00PM at Reeves Funeral Home, 75 North Broadway (one block North of Illinois Route 113) in Coal City. Funeral services will then follow Monday June 23rd at 10:00AM in the funeral home with Pastor Richard Reeder, Sr. officiating.

Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Wilmington with pallbearers: Jerry Krug, Curt Richmond, Dave Goad, Daniel Krug, Tim VanWinsen, Leland Thweatt, Jeff Hood and Nick McGee.

Preferred memorials in lieu of flowers may be made as gifts in Gloria's memory to her family for distribution to charities of their choosing.
