Glenna F. Craig

Age 87, of Wilmington, Illinois, went to be with her Lord and Savior Sunday, August 25, 2024 at Miller Health Care in Kankakee, Illinois.

Born March 11, 1937, in Briceville, Tennessee, Glenna was a daughter of her loving parents, Byrd and Gertrude (Adkins) Braden. She was raised and educated in Briceville, and graduated from Lake City High School. She met the love of her life, Billy J. Craig, when they were still in grade school. They were married on November 16, 1953 in Lake City, Tennessee, and enjoyed almost 53 years as husband and wife.

Glenna was an active member of the Wilmington community for many years. She retired from Personal Products and was a long-time member of Island City Baptist Church. For Glenna, attending church was not an obligation, but an outpouring of thankfulness to Jesus. She shared her gift as a pianist with the congregation for over 40 years and sang in the choir as well. She always had a smile on her face and loved serving others. Glenna's sweet spirit was a reflection of the joy she had through Christ.

Glenna delighted in spending time with her family. She and her husband, Bill, enjoyed traveling to Branson, Myrtle Beach, and the Smoky Mountains. She adored her role as Nana to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Nana's house was a haven of sweet conversation and heartfelt songs around the piano. And no one could leave Nana's house without getting a sweet treat from the basket in the kitchen! But above all, her sincere faith and unwavering hope in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ was the cornerstone of her life. Glenna desired to point others to the life-changing, saving power of the Gospel by living a life devoted to the Lord. Even as her time on this earth was nearing its end, Glenna had an unwavering confidence that she would be with her Savior in Heaven because of the redemptive work of Christ's death and resurrection.

Survivors include her four children: Pamela (Owen) Long, of Wilmington, Vicki (Trent) Tribble, of Braidwood, Debbie Craig, of Lincoln, Nebraska, and Stephen (Cathleen) Craig, of Wilmington; grandchildren: Alison Long, Melissa (Scott) Beever, Craig (Katie) Long, Nathan (Suzanne) Tribble, Brooke Milstead, Amanda (Aaron) Yingst, and Brandon (Randi) Milstead; great-grandchildren: Braden, Cole, Abigail, Hannah, Aubrey, Levi, Georgia, Lola, Hayley, Willa, and Karson;  two sisters: Patricia (Charlie) McMillan and Merry Carol (Doug) Padgett; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Glenna was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Billy; and her siblings: Anna Lou Horton, Hoover Braden, Lynn Braden, Sue Crowley, and David Braden.
