"Hoagie"
Age 72 of Morris and formerly Coal City, passed away Friday December 08, 2006 at Heritage Manor in Dwight.
Born May 13, 1934 in Coal City, Hoagie was a son of the late Anton and Emma (Kastl) Vota. He was raised and educated in Coal City and graduated with the Coal City High School Class of 1952. Hoagie was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in the Korean Conflict. He worked 37 years in the construction of the local power plants with the Laborers Union. Hoagie was a member of the Morris Moose Lodge and his hobbies included NASCAR Racing and garage sales.
Survivors include three sons: Michael (Debra) Vota of Mazon, Patrick (Michele) Vota of Seneca and Christopher (Theresa) Vota of Austin, Texas. Three grandchildren: Tammy (Steve) Latimer, Jacub Vota and Ginny Lynn Vota. Five great grandchildren: Colton, Karri, Lexi, Staiton and Allston Latimer. One niece Peggy Vota; three nephews: Tony Vota, Rick Vota and Todd Vota and his very close and dear friend Tom Van Horn of Morris.
Hoagie was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Melvin Anton Vota, Sr. and one sister-in-law JoAnn Vota.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday December 12, 2006 from 10:00AM until time of funeral service 12:00 Noon at Reeves Funeral Home, 75 North Broadway (one block North of Illinois Route 113) in Coal City. Rev. Mark Amenda from the First United Methodist Church of Mazon will officiate and burial with full military honors will follow in Bohemian National Cemetery of Braidwood.
Pallbearers will be: Mike Vota, Chris Vota, Pat Vota, Steve Latimer, Tony Vota and Rick Vota.
