Glenn O. Boynton, Sr.

Age 64 of Wilmington, passed away Saturday November 8, 2014 at Silver Cross Medical Center in New Lenox.

Born April 27, 1950 in Jonesboro, Arkansas Glenn Olen is a son of Betty Boynton of Wilmington and the late Glenn Alvin Boynton. He was a graduate of Wilmington High School and honorably served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam Era. On July 11, 1970, Glenn married Sharon Frey in the First Christian Church in Wilmington, and together they made their home and raised their family in Wilmington. Glenn was currently employed with Caterpillar in the Joliet facility as a Computer Navigated Control Machinist. He was a member of the IAM Local #851 and has volunteered with the Wilmington Lions Club for their annual Spook Hike since 2001. Glenn loved to read and held a vast collection of Science Fiction books. He enjoyed playing pinochle and will be most remembered for his love of family. Glenn truly cherished the time spent with his children and grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife of 44 years Sharon; three children: Glenn O., Jr. (Colette) Boynton, Matthew D. (Teresa) Boynton and Sara (Scott) Barbour; ten grandchildren: Elizabeth, Lisa, Brendan, Brianna, Matthew II, Angelina, Rose, Glenn W., Alexander and Seth; three great grandchildren: Aiden, Joshua and Jenna; his mother Betty Boynton and brother Billy Boynton, all of Wilmington.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday November 12, 2014 between the hours of 4:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. at Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 East Kahler Road in Wilmington. Cremation rites will be accorded following the visitation. Inurnment with full military honors will be held in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood at a later date.

Preferred memorials in lieu of flowers may be made as gifts in Glenn's memory to the Wilmington Lions Club, 805 River Street, P.O. Box 662, Wilmington, Illinois 60481.
