Glen Allen Jones

Age 75 of Wilmington, formerly of Piggott, Arkansas, passed away on Thursday January 14, 2016 at Heritage Health in Dwight.

Born September 21, 1940 in Piggott, Glen Allen was a son of the late John Paul and Marie (Jackson) Jones.  He was raised and educated in Piggot, where he graduated high school.  On August 20, 1960 Glen married Marion Grace Glover, and they later moved to Wilmington. He attended Joliet Junior College and went on to complete various trade schools.  Glen worked as a tool designer for many years at Bernard Welding Equipment Company in Beecher, Illinois until he retired in 2004.  He enjoyed building scale model Hit and Miss Engines from scratch and working in his garage while drinking coffee. Glen loved helping farmers with fixing their machinery, and he would never miss a morning of checking on the turkeys along Old Chicago Road.  Glen especially enjoyed fishing for catfish and will be remembered as a great storyteller.

Survivors include his wife: Marion Jones; his three sons: Richard (Sherry) Jones of Peotone, Brian Jones of Milan, Missouri and Jonathan (Marnie) Jones of Wilmington; four grandchildren: Desma (Tom) George of Northville, Michigan, Kyle Jones of Peotone, Grace Anne and Tracy Jones of Wilmington; one sister: Pauline Austin of Paragould, Arkansas; three sisters-in-law : Inez Hill of Milan, Tennessee, Lela Dishman of Tucson, Arizona and Delores Glover of Plainfield; one brother-in-law: W.C, Jr. (Jean Ann) Ross of Pollard, Arkansas, and numerous nieces and nephews, as well as several cousins.

Glen was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother: Ruel Jones of St. Frances, Arkansas.

Visitation will be held on Monday, January 18, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. until time of funeral service 7:00 p.m. at Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 East Kahler Road in Wilmington.  Cremation rites will be accorded following the services.

Preferred memorial may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.
