Age 66 of Coal City, formerly Morris and Dwight, passed away suddenly Monday, April 25, 2016 at Morris Hospital.

Born February 17, 1950 in Queens, New York, Ginny was a daughter of the late Louis Edward and Margaret Constance Scuderi-Hance.  She was raised and educated in New York, and graduated from Saint Catherine of Sienna in Jamaica, New York. On February 4, 1978, Ginny married Raymond Frank Sharer in Saratoga Springs, New York. She and her husband established, owned and operated Whistle Stop Café of Morris and Diamond in 2004, which is currently owned and operated by her daughter and son-in-law. Ginny attended Coal City United Methodist Church, and was a member of the Women of the Moose Club, where she was a former Senior Regent and belonged to the College of Regents. Ginny enjoyed crafts and painting, and found great joy in baking and candy making.  Her family, children and grandchildren were Ginny’s true joy of her life.

Survivors include her husband Raymond; seven children: Stacy (Luis) Morales of Dwight, Tiffany  LaRouech (Greg Kelleher) of Coal City, Angie Brandt of Coal City, Angela Sharer of Redmond, California, Lindsey (Nick) Yunker of Diamond, Jennifer (Scott) Smith of Aliso Viejo, California and Laura  Sharer (Cruz Velasco) of Coal City; fourteen grandchildren: Tasha (Rae) and Brittany (Alex) Nash, Tony (Loreli), Desarae and Isabel Morales, Alexandra and Joel Kelleher, Alicia LaRouech, Gracie and Cody Brandt, Jack Steinhouse, Morgan Smith, Zoe Taylor and Dominic Velasco; five great grandchildren: Victorya, Dante, CeAnna, Zavien and Joseph; one sister: Margaret Hance of Saratoga, New York, and several nieces and nephews.

Ginny was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter: Kristie LaRouech; two brothers: Louis and Charles Hance, and one sister: Donna Benson.

Visitation and video tribute will be held on Thursday, April 28, 2016 at the Coal City United Methodist Church, 6805 East McArdle Road, in Coal City from 3:00 p.m. until the time of funeral service, 7:00 p.m.  Reverend Brad Shumaker will officiate. Pallbearers and honorary pallbearers will be Luis and Tony Morales, Greg and Joel Kelleher, Nick Yunker, Cruz Velasco and Timothy Hurley.

Cremation rites will be accorded following the services, and inurnment will follow at 9:30 a.m. on Friday April 29, 2016 in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood. Those wishing to attend the cemetery committal services, are asked to assemble at Reeves Funeral Home, 75 North Broadway in Coal City on Friday morning at 8:15 a.m. for a procession, which will leave at 8:30 a.m.

Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Ginny’s memory to the Coal City Food Pantry.
