Ginger R. Carr
Age 91 of Morris, passed away Saturday November 30, 2013 at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home.
Born September 16, 1922 in Morris, Ginger was a daughter of the late Reas and Sadie Treftz-DeAtley. She was raised in Morris and went to work as a welder in the shipyards in California during World War II. After returning to Morris, Ginger also welded at the Seneca shipyards. Most recently she owned Ginger's Tap in Morris, which she operated until her retirement. It was the care that Ginger herself received from the Shriners Childrens Hospital as a child, that brought about her and her late husband's involvement and support with the Medinah Shriners. She was also a past member of the Morris VFW Auxiliary. Ginger enjoyed crocheting and loved to travel. She took great pleasure in driving, and could be found driving about town as recently as 3 weeks ago. Ginger will be remembered as a truly thoughtful person, who had a keen memory. She was dedicated to her close knit family, and cherished her daughter, son-in-law, grandchildren and their spouses and her great grandchildren.
Survivors include her daughter Barb (Ron) Rath of Morris; granddaughter Danielle (Pete) Helland of St. Charles; grandson Steven (Erica) Rath of Stavanger; two great grandchildren: Maggie and Hailey; her niece and namesake Ginger (Russ) Ferguson of Morris and numerous great nieces, great nephews and many special friends.
Ginger was preceded in death by her parents Reas and Sadie DeAtley; husband John Carr, whom she married on August 28, 1963; two sisters: Marge Wise and Kate Lee and two brothers: Richard DeAtley and Donald DeAtley.
