George J. Nagengast
Age 88 of Morris and formerly Coal City , passed away Saturday November 11, 2006 at Morris Hospital
Born February 23, 1918 in Lower Manhattan , New York , George is a son of the late George and Helen ( Jordan ) Nagengast.
On November 20, 1941, George married Dorothy "Dotty" Gertner in Perth Amboy , New Jersey . It was in the mid 1960's that George and Dotty moved to the Coal City and Morris area, where they resided the remainder of their married life. George worked as a Ammunition Expert Specialist for the US Government, having traveled worldwide, until being transferred to the Joliet Army Ammunition Plant, from where he retired. George accompanied his wife Dotty on many Senior Citizen Trips and was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Morris.
Survivors include one son William Nagengast of California; two grandsons: Christopher Nagengast of Sandwich and Billy Nagengast of Italy; One Great grandson Kale Taylor; One brother-in-law Leslie Gertner of New York; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; one adopted daughter Terry Egeland of Morris and her children and grandchildren: Tammi Smith, George's Godson Sean Egeland, Tara Zelinko and Jacinda and Jenika Smith.
George was preceded in death by his parents, loving wife Dotty (August 14, 2005) and two sons: Alan and Kevin.
Visitation and Video Tribute will be held on Thursday November 16, 2006 between the hours of 5:00PM and 8:00PM at Reeves Funeral Home, 408 East Washington Street (one block East of Illinois Route 47) in Morris. Funeral services will follow on Friday November 17th at 10:00AM in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Morris, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated with Rev. Richard Smith officiating.
Private family burial will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery in Morris and Billy Nagengast, Christopher Nagengast, Sean Egeland, Jason Smith, James Zelinko and Larry Egeland will act as pallbearers.
